During the fall of 2020, the CI worked with a graduate student from URI’s Department of Natural Resources Science to complete this geospatial analysis, which examines potential flood risk within the East Bay community of Warren from future sea level rise and storm events. Due to its low elevation, Warren is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of future climate change and already experiences regular nuisance flooding with costly impacts on the town’s residences, businesses, and infrastructure. This project resulted in a suite of GIS data products that are being used to assist town officials in medium and long-term planning and risk mitigation strategies.
