Workshop: Research as Fundamental to Excellence in Outreach

Retired History Teacher, Maury Klein, featured in QuadAngles May 2008Workshop for URI Communicators, Researchers, Graduate Students, & Undergraduate Students

Thursday, March 23rd, 10am-11:30am
URI Bay Campus, Mosby Center

Research can be both fascinating and frustrating. Dr. Maury Klein, a URI professor emeritus, offers insight to the world of historical and cultural archives, obscure databases and private repositories. Klein is the author of 18 books and numerous essays. His biography of Jay Gould, legendary railroad developer, is the foundation upon which a documentary film earned him an Emmy Award in the “Best Writing” category, and he was inducted in 2011 into the Rhode Island Heritage Hall of Fame. His knowledge of ways to eek out “lost” or obscure facts and events can serve to enrich your framing of science as a means to engage a broad range of audiences in complex information.  Bring your own views and questions to this exploration of research techniques and tribulations

Light refreshments will be served
