Provide a short paragraph stating why the project is best administered by the Coastal Institute.

URIWW blends environmental science with public education and outreach. Its goal is to promote active citizen participation in water quality protection; educate the public about water quality issues; obtain multi-year surface water quality information in order to ascertain current conditions and to detect trends and to encourage sound management programs based upon reliable water quality information. The Coastal Institute has similar goals, and many of its projects have need for similar data and outreach tools. In fact the CI was instrumental in supporting development of URIWW data management systems. Strengthening connections between URIWW and the CI through administration of this grant allows leveraging of resources and increases networking opportunities for both organizations.
