The Field Technical Support Center for GIS has been coordinated by the CI's Environmental Data Center since 1996. The Environmental Data Center, as part of the Coastal Institute, has worked on many projects through the Cooperative Ecosystem
Studies Unit (stationed at URI through the Coastal Institute) and has been involved in research at coastal parks in the Northeast U.S.(e.g., Acadia NP, Cape Cod NS, Fire Island NS, Gateway NRA). The EDC has a proven critical mass of GIS expertise to
contribute to this cooperative.
