| Provide a short paragraph stating why the project is best administered by the Coastal Institute. | The project hones in on one of the central relationships we have to the coasts, our fisheries. By trying to better understand the factors impacting the earliest life stage for lobsters and use this knowledge to assist in fisheries management, the project fulfills many of the Coastal Institutes goals. It will use scientific discovery to enhance our understanding of connections between society and environment, improve management decisions, and enhance our understanding of stewardship of lobsters in the Narragansett Bay. In addition, Kristin Huizenga plans to include outreach components by writing about the project on the popular blog Oceanbites and to share information on local lobsters through the monthly Bay Informed Discussion Series, which also achieves the Coastal Institute's goal of disseminating the knowledge for the public good. |
