The URI Coastal Institute and rhodyRstats are pleased to announce the 2017 Data Carpentry workshop on June 7th & 8th. Space is limited and registration is required.

Details: Data Carpentry workshops are for any researcher who has data they want to analyze, no prior computational experience is required (http://www.datacarpentry.org). This hands-on workshop teaches basic concepts, skills and tools for working more effectively with data. Content covered includes: data organization in spreadsheets and OpenRefine, SQL for data management, introduction to R and data analysis and visualization in R. By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to more effectively manage and analyze data and apply the tools and approaches directly to their ongoing research.
When: June 7th & 8th, 2017 from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Where: URI Graduate School of Oceanography, Coastal Institute Building, Hazard A & B Room
Who: The course is aimed at graduate students and researchers.
Requirements: Participants must bring a laptop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) on which they have administrative privileges. Specific software packages will need to be installed (listed here). Participants are also required to abide by Data Carpentry’s Code of Conduct.
