Biography

Shannon Howley is a Ph.D. candidate in Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island, with a Master of Arts in Communication and a Bachelor’s in Government. Her research explores the intersection of science communication, community engagement, and energy policy, with a particular focus on offshore wind energy development. Shannon’s dissertation examines misinformation and disinformation about offshore wind energy and strategies to improve energy communication and engagement. She aspires to lead initiatives that integrate inclusive communication strategies into marine energy policy, ensuring just solutions for coastal communities.
