  • PhD Completion: January 2012 - A multi-proxy reconstruction of mid-Holocene environmental conditions at a nearshore Great Barrier Reef site: King Reef, Northern Queensland

Since the end of CIIP, Ronan completed his PhD in paleoecology and environmental geochemistry of the Australian nearshore Great Barrier Reef, and secured a post-doc helping to establish Wales as a global superpower in marine science. In his spare time, Ronan grow fruit and vegetables with his two sons in a polytunnel in the Welsh mountains, train Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and brew fine wine and cider. Ronan recently participated in a Darwin Initiative project to survey the biodiversity of the coral reefs of the Chagos Archipelago.

Ronan’s perspective on interdisciplinary research: “One of the most difficult aspects of trying to do interdisciplinary science is no one seems to understand what you are trying to say.”
