Biography

Rickie (Erica) Ewton is a Ph.D. candidate in Biological Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island’s Graduate School of Oceanography. Her research focuses on marine microbes, such as plankton and coral symbionts, and their interactions with the environment. Passionate about science communication, Erica has actively trained new lab members, taught as a teaching assistant, and shared her fascination with the ocean through public outreach. She is committed to fostering collaboration and making complex scientific concepts accessible to diverse audiences, all while advancing innovative research on marine ecosystems.
