Biography
Mackensie duPont Crowley (she/her) is a Communication Studies master’s student in URI’s Harrington School of Communication and Media. Her research explores how Rhode Island newspapers cover sea level rise, focusing on the challenges local journalists face when reporting on climate risks/impacts and the thematic frames that shape this coverage. She’s especially interested in how complex climate science can be translated into clear, accessible narratives that reflect the lived experiences of diverse coastal communities and support public understanding, engagement, and action.
Mackensie has held roles at Save The Bay and Connecticut’s chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, and now coordinates digital communications at URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography.
