Lisa Philo

Lisa DeProspo Philo has worked as a communications specialist for the University of Rhode Island’s NEMO Program since 2004 and as a program evaluator for the Metcalf Institute from 2019 to 2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in science communication from Cornell University and a master’s degree in environmental and natural resource economics from URI. Her research has flowed from the economics of water resources and economic evaluation of land use to the communication of environmental issues including climate change, land use, stormwater pollution, and source water protection. Coastal issues have been at the heart of so much of that work. Given NEMO's mission to provide a consistent source of research-based information and tools to help local officials manage community water resources, there will be a strong overlap between Coastal Institute values and the work we continue to do.
