My area of expertise is numerical modeling and forecasting of air-sea interaction in tropical cyclones. My research group at GSO is involved in the development of coupled tropical cyclone-ocean models that are used for operational forecasting by the National Hurricane Center and Joint Typhoon Warming Center in all oceans. We collaborate in this research with government organizations and academia in the U.S. and other countries. I was named the 2002 Environmental Hero by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
