When dealing with coastal and oceanic issues, many of the details are enveloped in fluid dynamics. I bring over 25 years of experience looking at fluids from many scales, many disciplines and various investigation techniques. From turbulence in the boundary layer to the formulation of hydrometeors in the atmosphere, I have spent many years in labs and the field developing experiments and instrumentation to look at some of the fundamental questions and consequences of fluid dynamics on the world around us. At the moment, I am working with the issue of getting offshore wind energy to shore in an environmentally friendly manner through the various ocean and coastal regimes. I am honored to be working in RI to serve its citizens for a sustainable future. So how can I help? I have a very wide background in science and engineering. Years at sea train a scientist and engineer to be able to create unique solutions to problems as they arise as "there is no hardware store at sea" (Allyn Vine Jun 1992 @ WHOI). I am very inspired by working with excellent people and I look forward to making progress on coastal issues with the group assembled by the Coastal Institute.
