Christopher Russoniello

Chris Russoniello is a hydrologist interested in water near the coast, especially the interactions between surface and ground waters. Prior to Arriving at URI in Fall 2022, he earned his MS and PhD in Geology at the University of Delaware, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Syracuse University, and was an assistant professor at West Virginia University. His research interests include: the flow of water and nutrients to coastal waters; 'benthic exchange' of water between the ocean and subseafloor sediments; the impact of rising sea level and changing climate on coastal aquifers; and flow dynamics within the permafrost-rich river deltas across the Arctic.
