Join the University of Rhode Island (URI) Coastal Institute and RhodyRStats on Thursday, March 30th as we kick-off off our “Careers in R” speaker series. Special guest Jasmine Dumas, a data scientist at Simple Finance, will share her journey from biomedical engineering to data science and highlight two R packages that she developed, tubbier and shinyLP.

About Jasmine Dumas
Ms. Dumas has a background in biomedical engineering, aerospace manufacturing, and product design & development. Through volunteer work and collaboration on scientific open source software in the R programming community, she successfully transitioned to a career in data science. Jasmine is now a data scientist at Simple Finance where she helps people feel confident with their money by making banking beautiful. Ms. Dumas is an active member of the R programming community with two published packages on the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN) which focuses on increasing access to analysis-ready data (ttbbeer) and developing user-friendly interfaces (shinyLP). She enjoys developing open source tools to enable reproducible research and has contributed by participating in Google Summer of Code (Summer 2015) and NASA Datanauts (Spring 2017).
What is RhodyRStats?
