As an ecologist, my interests are primarily with human interaction with and impact on the coast, especially in terms of the introduction and spread of marine invasive species. My work as an environmental consultant involves monitoring and analysis of the intertidal fouling community, which is used to inform management practices in both the pubic and private sectors. I am additionally interested in salt marsh ecology and restoration, and the preservation of coastal ecosystems that serve necessary functions not only ecologically but anthropologically as well.

As a graphic artist, I am concerned with communicating coastal science that informs and empowers lay audiences and fosters collaboration between groups that are often disconnected. The resolution of coastal issues typically hinges on public education and an informed electorate, so I view effective communication as a pillar of applied coastal science, management, and policy.
