I am especially interested in the coastal shelf environment, with a focus on zooplankton and environmental interactions. In the late 1980's - early 1990's, I was a PI on the SCOPEX project and worked on interactions between zooplankton, physical oceanography, and right whales in the Great South Channel off Cape Cod. I am presently part of the US GLOBEC program, focusing on zooplankton and physical interactions on Georges Bank. The target organisms of both of these studies are important for fisheries and to the larger society (in the case of the endangered right whales). The societal implications of our findings, including possible effects of climate change, have been incorporated into these projects.
