RSVP – Annual SSEER Workshop August 1st

The annual Scientific Support of Environmental Emergency Response (SSEER) workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 1st, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in the Large Conference Room of the Narragansett Bay Campus. Beverages, snacks, and lunch will be provided.

The purpose of the annual SSEER workshop is to share resources and provide training to improve the ability of scientists, administrators, communicators, and first-responders to assist the state of Rhode Island in addressing environmental emergencies and threats to public health and safety. Areas of focus this year will be Chain of Custody (CoC) and the potential use of drone technology by SSEER for emergency response. This workshop is co-sponsored by the Coastal Institute, the RIDEM Office of Emergency Response, the Environmental Data Center, and local partners.

The Coastal Institute maintains a roster of university and statewide expertise and resources that could assist the state in responding to an environmental emergency, and provides oversight, direction, review and implementation of the SSEER agreement with RIDEM.
