Biography

Victoria Fulfer is a Microplastics Scientist with the 5 Gyres Institute, a non-profit dedicated to translating the latest science to solutions for plastic pollution. Victoria leads microplastic research projects and advises on policy, advocacy, and outreach initiatives. Victoria is also the founder of Pollution Solutions and Analytics, a company focused on helping groups complete waste audits and improve their waste streams, conducting small to medium-scale research projects, and consulting on nature-based solutions for pollution. She is focused on finding solutions to coastal plastic pollution and leading local initiatives to drive forward solutions to a global problem.

Victoria received her Ph.D. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island in 2024. Her dissertation focused on plastic debris and microplastics in the environment, from Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island to the shorelines of Vietnam. She served as a Fulbright Research Fellow in Nha Trang, Vietnam, where she completed a time series study of shoreline marine debris dynamics.
