Biography
Amara Pouv is a Ph.D. student in the Fisheries, Animal, and Veterinary Sciences Department at the University of Rhode Island, working under the mentorship of Dr. Coleen Suckling. Her research focuses on the ecotoxicology of microplastics and persistent organic pollutants in Eastern Oysters in Narragansett Bay, with a particular emphasis on contaminant spikes during storm events. This work aims to inform and advance protective policies that safeguard both human and ecosystem health. Amara is passionate about bridging the gap between evidence-based science and effective public policy and aspires to a career where she can drive impactful environmental solutions.
