My principal interest lies in the interaction between the animal, the ecology and the fisheries. My core area of study involves lobster, Homarus americanus. I have been involved with various funded studies on lobster habitat, enhancement, behavior and management. I served on the ASMFC Technical committee which prepared the last comprehensive stock assessment report. I serve on the state's lobster advisory committee. I am also involved with the RI Lobstermen's Association in projects concerning lobster science and management. I am very concerned about the future success of fisheries management. I feel that it is time to look "outside the box" to find the solutions to our very pressing problems dealing with a valuable resource.
