I have worked extensively on coastal and marine environmental issues for the past 20 years. I have published numerous papers in refereed journals, have served on 4 related panels for the National Academy of Science, and have served in an editorial capacity for several related international refereed journals. I have worked as an expert on natural resource assessments for approximately 20 oil spills. I served as PI for many grants on marine and coastal issues funded by the National Science Foundation, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US Minerals Management Service, the US Department of the Interior and Sea Grant, among others. A partial list of projects include the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Model for Coastal and Marine Environments (NRDAM/CME), which was adopted by the national regulations for assessing damages to natural resources from "relatively minor" spills of oil and hazardous substances in coastal and marine environments, and the Estuarine Use and Economic Assessment of the Peconic Estuary System, carried out as under the US EPA National Estuaries Program. I have also served as consultant to many state national, international agencies for analyzing coastal and marine policy issues.
