The Coastal Institute supports interdisciplinary research and the scientists who conduct that research through Senior Fellows programs, grants-in-aid, and opportunities to collaborate on projects that support the mission of the Coastal Institute. The Coastal Institute also sponsors workshops and professional development opportunities to support and produce effective and competitive research.

Coastal Institute Senior Fellows: professionals from a variety of backgrounds ranging from academia to the private sector to engaged citizens who provide the collective interdisciplinary expertise to research and address environmental problems in coastal ecosystems.

Leveraging Grants: funds provided to principal investigators to increase the impact of external grants that also promote the goals and mission of the Coastal Institute.

Catalyst Grants: grants provided to assist researchers to develop “proof of concept” to seek larger funding opportunities that dovetail with the goals and mission of the Coastal Institute.

Coastal Institute Projects: develop research, training, and outreach endeavors that meet the goals and mission of the Coastal Institute.
